Canton

Susan and I went to First Monday Trade Days in Canton last Thursday and got back this evening. I really don't even know where to begin with explaining this place. Canton is a town of about 6,000 people. During Trade Days (first weekend of each month) it is said to grow to 300,000 people. Craziness. Over the course of our days there, we managed to cover maybe half of the grounds. Anything you can possibly think of---they have it. I had an absolute BLAST! We had so much fun and I don't think I haven't laughed as hard as I did in a long time. Anyway, there were lots of signs that said "No photos" so I did as I was told and didn't take any pictures. I did take one while on the trolley heading back to our car to give you a very tiny idea as to the number of people there:

We came home with lots of ideas and will be replacing our 2.5 mile walks at night with arts & crafts time!

Last night, Jevon and I went to a FiberMax banquet that honored those who produced 2,000 pounds (or more) of cotton per acre. Apparently this is difficult to do (from what I gathered) because in the past 5 years, only 700 customers of FiberMax have been able to do this. Anyway, Jevon was awarded a plaque and a black leather jacket and is now a member of the "One Ton Club." The banquet was at Cagle's and it was so good. The best part of the evening was the entertainment. The emcee got up and began introducing these 4 little girls as "tonight's entertainment." I am thinking, "oh great, some of these old dudes rounded up their granddaughters and they are going to 'sing' for us."

WRONG!

Seriously, take 5 minutes out of your time and watch these 2 videos. They were a.m.a.z.i.n.g!

66/365 & San Antonio- Day 4

Today we:

Witnessed a protest of some sort. Something about justice, babies, women, power...I don't know.

Walked around La Villita

This had some great art and a lot of things made by local artisans. Such as this copper stuff:

I loved looking at the different galleries, but there was one piece going for $23,000. Who does he think he is? Van Gogh? I did see this and I thought it was pretty:

Shopping at El Mercado/Market SquareI have so much fun when we head south of the border to Progreso, Mexico. I felt like I was in Mexico today and it was awesome (and cleaner!).

While there, we had lunch at Mi Tierra's. I have never been here and saw that it had good reviews on Yelp. First off, they have a wall of Mexican pastries. I ♥ Mexican pastries. There is a little place in Roswell, New Mexico that we stop at that has really good stuff. Well, Mi Tierra's has all that and more. Anyway, I tried mole for the first (and last) time today. I am willing to bet that anything on their menu is good except for this. Blech. We left there and went to a couple of antique shops and then to the Container Store. I guarantee you that if we had been in Jevon's truck, I probably would have brought these home with me. I think they are so cute!

Rivercenter Mall

We strolled down the Riverwalk to find the Harley Davidson store and wound up at the mall. It was crowded and had nothing I haven't seen before. IMAX Theater

We saw Deep Sea in 3-D. I really enjoyed it. I think Jevon did, too.

We head home tomorrow and I am ready. I'm ready to see my dogs, sleep in my own bed, and prepare for my trip to New Orleans next week!

64/365 & San Antonio- Day 2

I love this city. In 2000 when I was wandering around lost with no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go, I thought about San Antonio. I lived here for a short while when I was younger and I have loved it for as long as I can remember. Of course we all know, I did not end up moving to San Antonio, but wound up in College Station and my life took a different turn.

Now I can visit San Antonio and take advantage of all the cool things that are here. Things that I would probably have never made the time to see and just take for granted if I did live here. Anyway, we got in late last night and have been busy bees since!

I haven't been here since I was maybe 11 or 12. It seems so much smaller than what I remember it being.

Tower of the Americas

I have never been here. It is so high. And windy. We also checked out the 4-D "ride", which is actually a show. It reminded me a lot of the 3-D shows at Disneyworld--like when Mickey splashes water on you during Fantasia. Except in this version ("The Skies Over Texas"), it's a cow's snot getting you wet. This is the only picture I managed to get today with my phone.

We are off to see Jeff Dunham later tonight.

I got a Mystic Tan! Up until last night it looked like I had wasted $25. Well, this morning. It's official: I did waste $25 dollars. I woke up, looked in the mirror to see a nice golden glow streaks! All over. Under my arms, down my legs, on my sides, my ankles...I have been scrubbing all morning to make my legs look decent. All while hearing Jevon in the background saying, "Beauty is pain!!!" 4. They were having a 70% off sale. This sweater was originally $168 and I got it for $32. The picture looks purple and doesn't quite do it justice. It's actually dark brown. I thought it would look cute with a white tee, jeans, and brown boots. I also got some mascara.

6. Sheridan's
I had a Brett's Butter Pecan concrete. Fresh vanilla frozen custard blended with pecans & caramel. Yummm!

Have I got a day tomorrow! Farrah and I are going to Lubbock to get a spray tan, a pedicure, and something else I might chicken out on. I will be back tomorrow night to report :) Maybe.

Today marks the beginning of my 365 Project that I originally blogged about here. Let's hope I can stick with this! I think it will be fun!

Everytime I see my Meemaw, she sends me home with a "bag". Or in this most recent case, a craft kaboodle. As much as I give her a hard time about her "bags", I actually like getting them because it lets me know she is thinking about me. I found these colorful pins in the bottom and chose them for today's picture. Love you Meemaw!

Girls Gone Mild!

In 2 days I will be in a chili cookoff. Yes, you read that right. And no, I have never cooked chili. My work is putting this on as a fundraiser of sorts for our "Children In Need" fund. This could get interesting. On to the important stuff: Aprons! My friend Farrah and I are on team Girls Gone Mild!Cute, huh? I still need to iron them, but you get the idea. I will let you all know how it turns out. There will be awards for 1-10 and a showmanship award. Lord help us.

I had heard about this place and when I spotted it, figured we needed to at least try it out. It was delicious, however, I think I agree with Jevon--I have had better. Maybe I am missing something?

This deserves 3 pictures because I had an absolute blast. If you ever have the opportunity to ride in a hot air balloon-you must do it! Hot Air Expeditions did not dissappoint.
