Going Greige

I ordered this polish today and am super excited to get it in. It's between gray and beige. I think it looks more green? Either way, I can't wait to get it in and try it out on my toes! I spotted it on AOL's homepage last week and according to them, this "greige" is going to be a hot color this fall.

Gifts For The Hostesses With The Mostesses

I struggled with finding hostess gifts for my baby shower. When I buy a gift, I always try to find something that I would love to get. Sometimes this is really easy and sometimes it's kind of hard. I finally decided on these cute pouches from 31 Gifts. I'm pleased with how they came out (for the most part) and think they are so cute! I plan on filling them with notecards I picked up from Paper Source, someBath & Body Works lotion and of course a thank you card.

Cake Love

I love cake. I've been craving cake for like a month now. I tried making banana cupcakes the other night and they came out looking like bran muffins or chocolate cupcakes. I burned them and they were awful!

Anyway, I'm talking about a different kind of cake. This is the Petunia Pickle Bottom kind and I am in love. Here is my Licorice Pudding Cake diaper bag (thanks, Mom!).

My Weekend

1. Had dinner with Susan and Raymond at Cattle Baron.

2. Went through my first ever Haunted House. There were people crawling around on the floor, things grabbing my legs, clowns and other masked things popping out from every corner, and Jason with a chainsaw. It was scary!!!

2. Watched I Love You, Man. So funny!

3. Made some more message boards.

I used OPI's "You Don't Know Jacques" Suede polish. If you don't put a clear coat on, it looks dull/matte. I like it! I got it on my toes, too. I'm normally a French girl, but decided to go with a color this time.

Quote

I ran across this quote on Resolved2Worship's blog and because I liked it so much, I thought I would share it:

"When you judge others, you are revealing your own fears, insecurities, and prejudices...Let the refining and improving of your own life keep you so busy that you have little time to criticize others..."

By the way, check out her blog when you have some time. She has such a beautiful family and takes really awesome pictures.

Gone are my days of eating Jello shots with a fork out of a mini muffin pan! Jevon ordered me 60 Twist-N-Shots! How cool are these!? You fill 'em up, put a lid on top, stick 'em in the freezer, twist to loosen them up and then just shoot it..errr...chew it! Whatever you do with it, these will just make it that much easier!

A Guy's Perspective

Warning: This post says the word "fuck" around 20 times. Consider yourself warned. I can see where it might be offensive, however, I think it's interesting to see a perspective other than a woman's.

Stupid Things That People Have Said to Us

To anyone who says, "It'll happen for you guys," fuck you. Look us in the eyes if -- dare I say when -- it doesn't.

To anyone who says, "I can't live in a world where you two aren't parents," fuck you. Let me know when you plan to kill yourself.

To anyone who says, "I'm praying for you," fuck you and your god. If you believe in a magical, imaginary sky-man who answered your prayers and favored you with your own children, fuck you. Seriously. Fuck you. Your religion isn't worth the spit that your god-favored child pukes onto your shoulder.

To anyone who says privately or to a partner, "There but for the grace of god go I," fuck you. And your god? I repeat: fuck him. Is that offensive? How's this? Fuck Him. We are not an example put before you by god to make you appreciate what you have.

To anyone who says, "You deserve to be parents," fuck you. Ride the subway for ten minutes and ask yourself if the people who hit their kids or who tell a four-year-old to "shut the fuck up" deserve to be be parents. Deserve's got nothing to do with it. Please tell me what you did to deserve your kid so I can start doing it. And if you have two kids, don't forget to give me your name and address so I can contact the Vatican to let them know what a fucking saint you must be to have deserved such exalted status.

To anyone who asks, "Have you thought about adoption?" fuck you. Especially if you have your own kid. Knowing what you know now would adoption be your first choice? And to anyone who reminds us of all the needy kids out there, seriously, go fuck yourself. I don't see you hanging out with Mia Farrow, asshole.

To anyone who complains about their children crying too much, not sleeping enough, using too many diapers, spitting up too much, stop your fucking complaining. It's called being a parent.

To the people who bring their children to the fertility doctor's office, fuck you. Big time. You're spending tens of thousands of dollars on a medical procedure and you don't have $20 and soda in the fridge for a baby sitter? Fuck you. Be thankful that you got at least one, and leave that one at home if you don't mind. Oh, and to a fucking infertility clinic that doesn't politely suggest that, maybe, just maybe, its patients not bring their existing children to the waiting room, fuck you, too. And lest I forget: to the guy who left the doctor's office beaming about his child-to-be, fuck you. How about this for an idea? Why don't you go to the oncology ward and yell, "I'm cancer-free!" Asshole.

To anyone who complains about how expensive it is to raise a child, fuck you. We'll spend ten times the cost of your stupid Bugaboo for a minute chance of success. The next time you complain about the cost of diapers, daycare, or doctor's visits, why don't you take twenty thousand dollars in cash and light it on fire? Because that's where we'll be if we keep going and we won't even necessarily have a kid to buy diapers for when it's over. (IVF doesn't come with a money-back guarantee.) You two fucked one night and got a kid for free. My wife injects her ass with horse steroids every fucking night, and gets poked and prodded by doctors and nurses twice a week all for the great privilege of possibly having a miscarriage again. Our remaining frozen embryos might not even survive being thawed, or so one of fifteen legal documents I had to sign told me. Sexy, no? Seriously, fuck you.

But, to anyone who knows that they don't know what to say and says exactly that, thank you.

I was unable to get a picture myself of the cookies for Steph, so this is from Sugar Belle's blog. Aren't they awesome?

I almost forgot to post a picture of my new cellphone covers (thanks, Nat!). You can find them here and here. Use coupon code "summerfun" and get 20% off your order. It sure makes a work phone (Blackberry) a little more fun!

I have been wanting this perfume for a while now and I finally got it from my Mom, David, Stephanie, and Katie. It smells sooo good. They also got me a really pretty bracelet and some super cute earrings. Annnd a bunch of other fun stuff that I can use at work and a magnet that says, "It's not shopping, it's retail therapy." Ha!

I bought these cookies for the pool party. Can you believe a lady here in town made these? I think they turned out so cute (and they tasted good, too)! Here is her blog and her Flickr site.

Another pair of my second favorite flip-flops. I also got them in black. These are seriously some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I hear Dillard's carries them and not just boutiques.

I feel lost without my day planner, so imagine my disappointment when I realized that mine ends at the end of this month and that I didn't have a replacement yet. I love how it has tabs and I love the big boxes that hold each day, and it's sturdy and has held up well. Well, I would like to thank Stephanie for spotting this one at Target. It's exactly like my old one and picks up right in July right where my old one left off. Thanks, Steph!!!

I love sending Jevon letters in the mail. I recently sent this one to him. It looks a little Valentine-ish, but I don't care. I think he's a Hottie and wanted him to know I thought so and that I was thinking about him. I also told him how appreciative I am of everything he does for me and for us. Oh and I thanked him for airing up my tire that morning. I felt really bad because I had to wake him up to do it. :) I have never put air in a tire in my life. And on a completely different note--I have never mowed a lawn either!

Ok back to the subject!

I came across Papyrus cards once in an airport and now Target is carrying them. They run around $4-5 a piece, but they are so unique and cute. I think it's worth the price.

About a year ago I was in Expressions and Shelly said that I needed to enter the monthly Brighton drawing. Yeah, yeah, ok. I never win anything, but what the heck. Every month since I have entered the drawing, I have received an email saying that I needed to print the email out and take it in to Expressions to be entered into the drawing. And these emails always get deleted because I know my chances of winning are slim and I don't have time to run up to Expressions once or twice a month to take these slips in. Well, I do, but if you have been to Expressions, you know it can be a very dangerous place to shop :). Anyway, imagine my suprise when this email came in today: I normally just delete these, but when I saw, "Come Pick Your Handbag" in the subject line I thought hmmm, this one is different than the others. So, I took it in and asked Shelly what the heck this email was saying and she said, "You are one of June's winners. You get to pick any purse off the shelf and there is no price limit." No way!!! Apparently Brighton gives away 50 items each month across the United States and I was one of those 50! Shelly got on to me and said that I had not been bringing in my slips and that she had been sending in my information for me so I had her to thank for being a winner. Thank you Shelly (again)!!!

So I begin to puruse the shelves and I must add that she has quite a few handbags to pick from. I immediately see a leopard print one with red interior for $155. Cute! Then Shelly makes a suggestion: "Why don't you pick a really expensive one that you would normally not buy and then just come and get the cheaper one you like some other time." Awesome idea! So I brought this little baby home:
(Interior)

And want to know how much it was? $350. Yes. I just scored a $350 purse for FREE!

Now, I haven't owned a Brighton purse since maybe 8th or 9th grade, but come on! It was FREE!!! Did I mention it was FREE? I am still in shock.
