18 Kids and Counting

We did a little more sightseeing and stopped to watch a few street performers. A group of guys doing acrobatic-type things, a kid tapping really fast using soda cans, and this guy who stood really still and was spray painted (?) gold.

And there you have it. Our short but fun-filled trip to New Orleans.
Katie competes today and tomorrow and then the best score is taken of the two days. They did awesome today and hopefully tomorrow will be just as good. She got kicked in the face and smudged her lipstick :( . Cheerleading can be dangerous!
(He wanted out of the rain, too!)
I don't think a trip to New Orleans would be complete without checking out one of their old cemeteries.
The Friday before St. Patrick's Day, the city has a parade. Apparently they throw beads, cabbage and all kinds of other vegetables. Gross! Here is a picture of the aftermath.

Next stop was an old butcher stop. Butcher and wife lived upstairs. Butcher had affair with worker and then killed his wife. He was unsure how to dispose of her body, so he made sausage out of her. Makes sense to me. He handed out the meat the next day and people LOVED it, until someone bit into a gold ring. And there was Helga.

I have so much fun when we head south of the border to Progreso, Mexico. I felt like I was in Mexico today and it was awesome (and cleaner!).
While there, we had lunch at Mi Tierra's. I have never been here and saw that it had good reviews on Yelp. First off, they have a wall of Mexican pastries. I ♥ Mexican pastries. There is a little place in Roswell, New Mexico that we stop at that has really good stuff. Well, Mi Tierra's has all that and more. Anyway, I tried mole for the first (and last) time today. I am willing to bet that anything on their menu is good except for this. Blech.
We left there and went to a couple of antique shops and then to the Container Store.
I guarantee you that if we had been in Jevon's truck, I probably would have brought these home with me. I think they are so cute!
